Berry Global manufactures a vast range of plastic products, including packaging and protective solutions, specialty fabrics and wipes, containers, closures, bags, and stretch film.

The Challenge

The Jackson, TN plant was taking on a new product line of plastic storage containers. They needed to source conveyance that would work with their mold machines. Since another Berry Global plant in Evansville, IN, was already producing this part and had success with Dynamic Conveyor, it made sense to visit the Evansville plant to see the conveyor systems in action.

Previous conveyors installed by other outside contractors often had issues due to incorrect assembly, leading to problems down the road. Ben needed a trusted partner to install all the conveyors needed for the new product line.

The Solution

After seeing the products in action and learning about the modularity and flexibility of the Dynamic Conveyor systems, as well as the success at the Evansville plant, Berry Global Jackson TN decided to purchase the DynaCon and DynaPro Conveyor systems. These systems are specifically well-suited as a conveyor for plastics industry applications, meeting the demands of high-volume, precision part handling. They invested in five Z conveyors and eight horizontal conveyors, totaling thirteen conveyors.

Dynamic Conveyor’s team installed the conveyors, ensuring proper setup and functionality from the start.

The Results

The belt conveyor systems are efficiently moving forty-eight parts every seven seconds without backups. The DynaPro conveyors under the presses have friction top belts that provide a good grip, preventing parts from falling off during transit. These conveyors are ideal for high-speed plastic part handling, ensuring reliable performance in demanding production environments. The ability to program the DynaPro to auto-reverse has been a significant advantage, allowing for scrap management without stopping the mold machine, which is crucial for Berry.

The installation took just one and a half days for all thirteen conveyors, and they worked perfectly from the moment they were turned on. The systems have been running smoothly without issues.

“The modularity of the product line has already proven to be a big advantage. When we found that the Z conveyors were a bit taller than needed, we simply removed a section. This flexibility is something we couldn’t achieve with other conveyor systems in our plant,” Ben Butler, Plant Director said. “We know we can modify these conveyors as needed without buying new ones.”

Besides the modularity and quality, Ben was most impressed by the high level of service and communication he received during the purchasing process.
