Trelleborg Medical Solutions develops, manufactures, and supplies innovative engineered solutions for demanding medical, biotech and pharmaceutical applications in thermoplastics, silicone, and other elastomers. The location in Menomonie, WI is focused on injection molding medical parts.

Challenge

This location of Trelleborg had continuous run conveyor systems transferring parts from mold machines to bins. Parts were collecting and created parts damage and contamination. In addition to a desire to improve product quality, the company wanted to improve worker safety by standardizing and safeguarding their systems around the machines and robots.

Trelleborg needed a standard and low-profile conveyor solution that would provide indexing and contribute to the enhanced worker safety and system standards.

A colleague had positive experience with Dynamic Conveyor Z-Style DynaCon conveyor and prompted further exploration of Dynamic Conveyor equipment.

Solution

The solution was two 12” wide by 72” long DynaPro low profile conveyors that shipped quickly, were simple to deploy into the operation, and offered an excellent standard solution for the robotic pick and place application throughout the operation. The conveyors use indexing to keep products from accumulating and the legs are locked down to end conveyor shifting.

Results

The new conveyor solution has created an effective standard for the routing of parts to be implemented on other stations, cuts the grouping of parts and damage, decreased contamination, and minimized gap guarding for an increase in worker safety.
